Common questions about the extension, models, parallel sessions and MCP. Understand both capabilities and boundaries.

Product & installation

Is this an official Anthropic or Microsoft product?

No. This independent project is maintained by liliangshan. Claude, VS Code and other names belong to their respective owners and describe compatibility and usage only.

Are model credits included?

No. Configure your own model provider and credentials. Requests go to your chosen provider, which determines pricing, quotas, available models and features.

Why run setup if the CLI is installed?

Setup checks the current extension host’s global completion record, not just the CLI file. Reuse existing paths and providers; select and validate the installed CLI without downloading again.

Why do other workspaces show the old UI?

Open windows usually need reloading after an update. Development hosts and normal windows may run different builds. Check the actual extension path and version in LLS CCAI output logs.

Can I test first-run setup again?

Where available, use the LLS CCAI reset-installation-and-open-setup command in the Command Palette. It clears completion state through VS Code APIs while preserving CLI, providers, credentials, MCP and history. Do not edit a running VS Code state database.

Sessions & usage

Do left and right sessions share chat context?

Sessions, CLI processes and saved settings are separate; chat context is not shared. Provider configuration and workspace files remain shared, so coordinate parallel edits and review diffs.

Does opening settings or hiding the left stop tasks?

Hiding a view or opening settings alone does not stop the left task. Reloading VS Code, stopping tasks or restarting CLI may interrupt work. Detached remote/background processes may keep running and need manual checks.

Are cache hit rates and usage always accurate?

Figures depend on upstream statistics and response identity. Missing cache fields or reused response IDs can limit attribution. They do not replace provider billing or guarantee a fixed cache hit rate.

Does bypass fix tool permissions or connections?

bypassPermissions skips CLI checks; it does not grant database rights, bypass SSH authentication or fix MCP networking. Prefer conservative permission modes and enable bypass only in trusted environments.

MCP & security

Do these MCP tools require this extension?

No. All five are independent npm packages for compatible MCP clients. Follow package docs; availability depends on client/package versions and connection configuration.

How do .mcp.json and .vscode/mcp.json differ?

Claude Code typically uses root .mcp.json with mcpServers. Native VS Code MCP uses .vscode/mcp.json with servers. Renaming alone does not convert structure or variable rules;the guide provides client-specific examples。

Why use a read-only database account?

MCP switches restrict application capabilities, not database isolation, and may not cover all syntax or indirect actions. Also use database read-only roles, network restrictions and auditing.

Does the website save my keys?

There are no account, password or key submission forms. Configuration is generated locally. Hosting may keep normal HTTP logs; npm, Marketplace and model services have their own policies. SeePrivacy & responsible use。

Why not skip SSH host verification?

An unverified host can be impersonated. Obtain the SHA256 fingerprint from an administrator or trusted console; an untrusted network scan is not proof of server identity.

Build more. Switch less.

Start with one extension, add tools as needed, and try them in a test environment first.
